10 Advantages of Digital India Campaign

Digital India was launched by PM Narendra Modi on July 1st, 2015, in order to make government services available to citizens electronically by online infrastructure development and also by improving internet connectivity. This is one of the highly anticipated projects of the NDA led government.

What is Digital India?

The Government of India is proposing to spend Rs 1,13,000 crores on Digital India. By coordinated engagement with both the Central Government and State Government, India will be prepared for the knowledge-based transformation and deliver good governance to citizens.

The vision of Digital India

A knowledge-based economy and a digitally empowered society are needed for the country. In this way, the government provides its services electronically to citizens. By mandating the delivery of government services electronically, it would also introduce public liability.

Digital Payment and BHIM apps


BHIM, i.e., Bharat Interface for Money, is a payment app that allows you to make simple and quick transactions by Unified Payments Interface (UPI). You can now make direct bank payments on UPI by using their UPI ID or scanning their QR code with the BHIM app. You can also request money through the app.

  • The portal was inaugurated on May 30th 2020 by Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad
  •  A central hub for everything AI in India.

Digilocker and UMANG

DigiLocker services are integrated into UMANG to minimize paper use and provide anytime and anywhere, authentic and secure access to documents.

  • The initial release was in November 2017
  • It is available in 13 languages in India
